Ok, so I am an avid fisherman. In fact, I go almost every day in the spring and summer. I get addicted to it. The only fish I’ve ever fished for are bass and channel cat/flathead. I fish for bluegill sometimes so I can use them as bait for flathead. I’ve never gone trout fishing. Never even thought about it... however, I am for real, a trout fishing record holder... haha get this. One morning I caught some bait in our pond. I lucked out and caught one of the goldfish. The cats were biting hard on goldfish around that time. Cut it into chunks. So... I went fishing at the river near Oakville, Iowa on the other side of the pumping station and caught a fish I had never seen before. I hadn’t seen a walleye in over 10 years and was wondering if that’s what I had caught. So my dumbass posts this pic on Facebook: I got razzed pretty hard about that caption, for apparently, I have a lot of friends who are familiar with what it was...a trout. However, after the razzing eased, people started inquiring about where I caught it. And I told them...Oakville... in SEI. No one had ever heard of a trout being caught that far South before, ever. So I contacted the DNR and here was the exchange: It was confirmed a few weeks later and posted on the DNR site and social media. A record. LMAO That’s just one of many stories I have. I’ve always wanted a fishing forum to post on!
